Food Harmony Guide ("we", "us", or "our") is an educational platform for food combining principles, meal planning, and nutritional guidance. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, how we secure it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. By downloading and using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a name you provide. If you sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, or Apple, we receive the profile information those providers share (such as your name and email address).

1.2 Content you create

To personalize your experience, we store the data you enter in the app, including:

• Saved favorite foods
• Kitchen / pantry inventory and quantities
• Planned meals and meal history
• Recipe collections you create
• Shopping lists
• Dietary preferences set in your profile

1.3 Usage & diagnostic information

We collect anonymous analytics about how the app is used (for example, which features are visited and how often the Meal Checker is used) to improve the product. This data is not linked to your identity. We may also collect limited device and crash diagnostic information to identify and fix technical issues.

1.4 Permissions

The app may request the following device permissions, only when needed for a feature you choose to use:

• Notifications — to send meal reminders and food safety recall alerts (optional).
• Calendar — only when you connect Google Calendar to sync planned meals.
• Storage / media — only if you upload a photo or file to a feature that supports it.

We do not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera, SMS, or phone state.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• To save and display your favorites, pantry, meals, and preferences.
• To generate shopping lists and meal reminders on your behalf.
• To match your saved foods against public food safety recall data.
• To send service-related emails, such as password resets and meal reminders.
• To process payments and manage your subscription status.
• To analyze usage trends and improve the app's features and content.
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We share your information only in the limited circumstances described below:

• Service providers — we use trusted providers for hosting, authentication, payments (Base44 Payments / Wix), email delivery, and analytics. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security obligations.
• Connected services you choose — if you connect Google Calendar, Google Tasks, or Facebook, we share only the data needed to perform the action you requested (for example, creating a calendar event for a planned meal). Those services operate under their own privacy policies.
• Public recall data — to match your saved foods against active recalls, we send the names of foods in your kitchen and favorites to the public FDA openFDA API. We send only food names, not your identity.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety, we may disclose information as necessary.

4. Data Retention

We keep your personal data only as long as needed to provide the service and as described in this policy:

• Account data — retained while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.
• Content you create — retained until you delete individual items or your account.
• Purchase records — retained as needed to manage your subscription and for record-keeping.
• Anonymous analytics — kept in aggregate form and not linked to your identity.

5. Data Security

Your personal content is tied to your account and is not shared with other users. We use row-level access controls so that each user can only read and modify their own favorites, pantry, meals, and related data. Sensitive operations are protected by authentication, and privileged actions require administrator authorization. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on secured infrastructure. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use local storage and cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences between visits. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites or for advertising.

7. Your Choices & Data Deletion

You have the following controls over your data:

• Edit your profile and dietary preferences at any time from the Profile page.
• Delete individual favorites, pantry items, and meals directly in the app.
• Disconnect a linked third-party service at any time from your account settings.
• Withdraw notification permission from your device settings at any time.
• Account deletion — to permanently delete your account and all associated data, use the "Delete account" option in your Profile. This removes your favorites, pantry, meal history, planned meals, recipe collections, recall alerts, and purchase records. You can also request deletion by contacting us using the details in Section 9.

8. Children's Privacy

Food Harmony Guide is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us using the details in Section 9 so we can delete it.

9. Developer Contact

This app is published by the Food Harmony Guide team. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, your data, or a data deletion request, you can:

• Use the in-app "Delete account" option or contact us through the support channels available in your account.
• Visit our home page for more information about the app.

For Google Play users, you may also submit data deletion requests through the Play Store app data deletion request option, and we will process them in accordance with this policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where significant changes occur, provide notice in the app. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
